may, the holiday jackpot

calendar

May in Norway means 4 days off – Labour Day, Ascension Day, the 17th of May, and Pentecost. 4-four day work weeks in a row! And because it seems silly to take a Thursday off and come back to work on a Friday, you might as well take a 5th day off too, right? While all these days off in May are great, it means we don’t have another day off (well, besides vacation time – and most Norwegian take 3 consecutive weeks off in the summer) until Christmas.

My two long weekends will be spent adventuring – aka exploring and skiing – first in West Norway and then way up north (in a moment of spontaneity I bought a ticket to Tromsø yesterday!). I am just hoping that some of the stellar weather we experienced last May will soon come ‘round. I am ready to put away the sweaters and break out the BBQs!
